POINTS OF VIEW, THANKS MIU MIU

Miu Miu Disco

Miu Miu knows something about disco!

I passed by the window display on 57th street this week and was transfixed. The mannequins were disco balls in their own right, but what fascinated me was the triangle facets as opposed to square mirror pieces and of course, the GOLD. The first thing that came to my mind was “points of view.” The idea of the window display is a literal physical display of someone’s point of view and in this case, Miu Miu’s right on point: the textured, reflecting mannequins vs. the solid color blocked pieces, the round pockets on the skirt vs. the strong pleated lines, the cool purple and the warm gold, and the angled velvet panels behind accentuating the pattern on the mannequins. Gorgeous!

another view, notice the mid day sun casting small circles of light on the panel

And I just love the way the light reflects off of the mirrors and onto the panels to make little triangles and squares. This window is all about contrast and angles and I love it!
